It was a very moving week for Ducky, not only in staff positions, but also in the discovery of new community servers. In this, she also discovered the bad side of some communities, surely when it comes to the younger generation, -16.

Welcome to Heavenly Swans, a pairing-focused server made for teens (13–18) who crave genuine connection, whether it's friendship, companionship, or something a little more romantic. In this cosy, welcoming space, everyone’s searching for something real: attention, affection, understanding, or that one person who just gets them.

While the idea of pairing people together was romantic and heartfelt, it also came with a troubling imbalance of power. The owners began to see themselves as the gatekeepers of connection, privileged matchmakers who held influence over who deserved love and attention. What started as a noble idea slowly became tinted with ego.

Behind the scenes, favouritism was hard to ignore. Some moderators were promoted not for their dedication or reliability, but simply because they were close friends with the owners. This created a clear divide in the staff, an atmosphere of cronyism and selective trust, even as those in charge firmly denied it.

2. Formalities in servers | Hit Era Education

While Discord communities are meant to be spaces where people can relax, connect, and enjoy each other's company, some servers take a very different approach, treating their spaces more like corporate enterprises than social hubs.

Instead of fostering casual interaction, they implement overwhelming walls of rules, detailed regulation documents, and rigid hierarchies. Staff are expected to follow strict procedures with near-military precision, and stepping even slightly out of line can lead to warnings, demotions, or outright removal.

What was meant to be a fun and welcoming environment often ends up feeling cold, controlled, and performative, more about maintaining power than building community. It becomes less about making memories and more about walking on eggshells under the watchful eyes of an overstructured system.

Even though Ducky is CEO of this server, she's working closely with the owner to make it more loose and member-driven instead of pure formalities.

3. Small communities faltering | Frog's Hideout

Discord is home to a wide variety of servers, some small and intimate, others massive and bustling with activity. However, as the largest servers continue to grow, smaller communities often find themselves buried beneath the weight of their popularity.

This imbalance stems from several factors: Discord’s algorithm tends to promote already-established servers, making it harder for newer or smaller ones to gain visibility. Users are naturally drawn to places with high activity, assuming they offer more value or entertainment. As a result, small servers struggle to stand out, even when they have unique themes, close-knit atmospheres, or dedicated teams behind them.

Over time, this creates a cycle where the big get bigger, and the small are left behind, regardless of the heart and effort poured into them.
